Probably the cleanest way to produce energy is to save it! PDF Print E-mail
Further to Hard work for better energy efficient buildings and homes I would like to get back to the topic.

There is a lot of talking about clean ways to produce energy. Very often they require planning, investment and the appropriate (and normally extremely slow) political decisions.

But I think that a huge difference can be done - especially designing a property - to reduce the amount of energy used, just by working to save it.

In my opinion by adopting this attitude you can probably achieve concrete and relevant results on the ground of saving/producing clean energy.

There are of course an endless number of possibilities:

  • From the thermal energy saving techniques (proper insulation techniques, certified windows and doors etc.) to the use of efficient technology (certified and electronically controlled heating and cooling systems etc.);
  • From a careful selection of local products (in a way they do not need to travel much to be installed in the property etc.) to the design of building techniques that reduce certain types of works (for example large excavations that require vast removing of earth etc.).

Of course it is very difficult and probably you will always be able to do better but a strong attention in this direction looks to me already a fundamental step on the right path.
Your comments will be extremely welcome.

More on the matter soon.

Very best regards,
