Golf courses at less than 1 hour driving from our Tuscan Homes

Recently I was asked about Golf Courses around our Homes in Tuscany.

It often happens, in fact in our IN Toscana MAP last year we gave suggestions on a few golf courses in the area, but I would like to write a few lines here with more information about distances to make your one day trip to the golf courses nearby more convenient.

There are at least 4 or 5 Golf courses you can consider, which are easily reachable from our Homes in Italy at Borgo in Chianni and Ville degli Olivi.

The Golf Club Tirrenia and the Cosmopolitan Golf Course (always in Tirrenia) are reasonably near. It would take probably around 45 minutes driving from either Lajatico and/or Chianni.

It is about 50/55 kms (circa 34 miles), you need to drive direction Livorno and then keep going to Tirrenia, which is at circa 5 kms North to Livorno.

The Golf Club Tirrenia is an impressive 9 holes while the Cosmopolitan is a newer 18 holes, which, I am told, to be very good: I never played there!

The Golf Club Castelfalfi in Montaione is another possibility at circa 35 kms (circa 22 miles) from Lajatico (and Chianni). The course was remodelled and re-opened in the second half of 2010, inf fact you do not find it in our IN Toscana MAP. It looks like it is getting better now but I have not been there in person recently.

Driving towards Florence you still have the Golf Club Fontevivo, a 9 holes in San Miniato, at about 40 kms (circa 26 miles) from Chianni (and Lajatico) and Circolo Golf Club Ugolino in Grassina, South of Florence, at circa 90 km (circa 55 miles) from Chianni (and Lajatico).

From our Italian Homes in Tuscany, any of these courses could be an excellent 1 day trip.

Of course you could take this opportunity to explore new places too, as for example going to the Cosmopolitan Golf Course in Tirrenia you could stop at Livorno to visit, or to dine there, the town is worth a visit and it is good for shopping.

Feel free to call me to know more or with your suggestions.

Very best regards,

Luca Catalano
