Recently I wrote a Twitter about what I think is good news: in accordance with the Economist (05/12/09 page 11) if policy is well designed the cost of addressing climate change effectively could be relatively low… It’s good news since there would be a realistic opportunity to do something, since it does not look prohibitively expensive.
On the other hand the first huge condition is awareness.
People need to feel it as a priority.
It looks to me similar to approach the design of a property. You can do very much – for example in term of energy saving – especially in the design phase.
The cost of it is not that great, having considered the benefits (lower maintenance costs, more well-being, easier management etc.).
At the end of the day you create value.
Nevertheless – in order to do it effectively – you need to be fully aware of the fact and knowledgeable about what could be done.
If you try to approach the matter later, after the property is built, it will make things often impossible or at least extremely expensive ……. probably like a lack of acting now against climate change.
